| Yorba Linda Arts Alliance |
ABOUT: The Yorba Linda Arts Alliance was established in November, 1999 as a grassroots movement to network and promote the arts. The Arts Alliance acts as an umbrella organization for the many arts groups and individuals, to unify these organizations and individuals. One of our goals is to build and operate the "Yorba Linda Center for the Arts", a non profit cultural and performing arts center in Yorba Linda, for the benefit of arts groups and community. This project will be funded totally by private donations, endowments, fundraisers, grants, ticket sales and concessions. Our community deserves a dedicated arts facility for the enjoyment by all. |
Our mission: The Yorba Linda Arts Alliance is a coalition of cultural and fine arts proponents, comprised of organizations and individuals devoted to promoting the arts in the city of Yorba Linda. It acknowledges all of the art disciplines equally, fairly, and without involving favoritism, bureaucracy, or politics. The Alliance strives to increase community awareness, support, involvement, and enjoyment of the local arts. |
News: Over the past decade, we participated in workshops, met with the developers, city staff, council members, council candidates, and sat on the Town Center Blue Ribbon Committee. We were led to believe that an arts venue would be part of the Town Center. However, on September 20, 2011, the Yorba Linda City Council denied to approve an arts facility in town center. We indicated that we were willing to lease or purchase the land, and would not break ground until our funding was secured, a "no risk" situation for the city. If we failed, the parcel would be designated for another use. According to our research, a cultural arts center would be the draw to town center, create a hub of activity, and help stimulate business in the area. We will investigate other possible locations, however, the business and restaurants that will be located in town center would not benefit from a partnership with an arts venue if it's located elsewhere in the city. |
